Every walking stick on the market we could find were designed for function. They were clinical, lacking finesse and joyless. We could see people we're resisting using a stick, because they hated how it looked - they hated how a medical-feeling device made them feel.
When someone in our lives needed a stick, we looked everywhere for something beautiful. Something that wouldn't embarras them, that they'd actually want to use. We found nothing.
And that's why we started ooak.
Good design isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.
We believe the objects we rely on every day should be beautiful, and functional. Not as an after thought and not one without the other.
We think needing support shouldn't mean surrendering your sense of self. And we know that good design, good materials and sustainable craft are non negotiables.

We're a small team, based here in Aotearoa, NZ. We design everything here, and care enormously about what leaves our workshop.
